HAWTHORNE UTILITIES ANNOUNCES SUSPENSION OF WATER SHUTOFFS


BOYS AND GIRLS CLUB OF MASON VALLEY - HAWTHORNE SITE
       The Boys and Girls Club will be providing meal services for people ages 0-18.  Membership with the Boys and Girls Club is NOT required.  Food is available curb-side pickup only.  Please call 1-775-283-8463 for more information and to allow them to adequately prepare enough meals.      
  • Meal pick up days are Mondays and Wednesdays from 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm.  
  • On Monday they will hand out meals for Monday and Tuesday, on Wednesday they will hand out meals for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. 

COMMUNITY CHEST INC. 
  • The office has cancelled any in-home visits and replaced them with virtual home visits
  • They have regular business hours to receive phone calls and emails.  Call 1-775-313-6447 or email sdillard@communitychestnevada.net 
  • Community Health Workers are available to assist members of the community
  • Couseling and therapy for all ages are available via telehealth 
  • Their facebook page or instagram is a way to stay up to date with what they are providing

CONSOLIDATED AGENCIES OF HUMAN SERVICES (CAHS)
  • Please call 1-775-945-2471 to see which services you qualify for. 
  • WIC Services for families that qualify are available by phone or by lobby appointment/walk-in 
  • Food Pantry is available for families that qualify on Monday/Wednesday/Friday except for Wednesdays when USDA commodities are distributed (one time use in a 30 day period).  
  • Wednesday, April 8, 2020 - Food Bank of Northern Nevada
  • Tuesday, April 28 , 2020 - USDA Commodities: Schurz, Walker Lake 
  • Wednesday, April 29, 2020 - USDA Commodities: Hawthorne, Gabbs, Mina and Luning. 

CARE AND SHARE (MINERAL COUNTY SENIOR SERVICES CENTER)

  • Please call 1-775-945-5519 for update to date information and to see if you qualify for services.  
  • Meals on Wheels will be delivering food for those who qualify.  There will be no drive-up meal service.  
  • All out of town transportation has been cancelled.  In town transportation for local routine medical appointments will continue to be provided; however, they will not transport anyone who is sick.  
GROCERY DELIVERY

  • MINERAL COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE  - The Mineral County Sheriff's Office has offered to help Seniors and those who are home bound complete their grocery shopping, for questions please call  1-775-945-2434. 
  • MINERAL COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL JAG CLASSThe local Mineral County High School Jobs for America's Graduates (JAG) class is offering grocery pickup and drop off Monday through Thursday from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm as a free service to ANYONE in the community who cannot, or does not wish to go shopping during this time.  This will be a way for the youth to earn community service under their teacher Mandy Glazier who will handle and money and accompany the kids on each trip.  For more information or to sign up please call 775-722-6791.

JOE'S TAVERN

  • FREE meal-of-the-day for children ages 0-18, no questions asked
  • FREE spaghetti feed, every Thursday evening starting at 5 p.m. available to ALL community members, no questions asked

                                                MINERAL COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT 
       Mineral County School District will offer food to students/children of Mineral County beginning Monday, March 23rd, 2020.  They will provide both breakfast and lunch to every student/child 18 years of age and under.  For more information please call 1-775-945-2403 ext. 10 or 11 for visit their website at http://www.mineral.k12.nv.us/ .  The food distribution flyer is available on their webpage for easy viewing. 

RSVP/VA
       RSVP is still active and able to transport clients to MEDICALLY ESSENTIAL doctor's visits only and are currently offering grocery pickup services (they cannot transport clients anywhere besides Doctor's Appointments) To become a client you must be over 60 years of age or be disabled between the ages of 18 to 59 or the caregiver of someone that is disabled or over 60.  It is free to become a client.  Please call 1-775-945-9001 or 1-775-722-7669 or e-mail mjs-depot@sbcglobal.net for more information.

SAFEWAY & SAFEWAY PHARMACY 
  • Safeway has dedicated the the first hour (8:00 am to 9:00 am) of every Tuesday and Thursday for Senior Citizens and those who are high risk so that they may shop in a safer environment.  
  • Safeway Pharmacy will be opening an hour early every Tuesday and Thursday, starting at 8:00 am for high risk patients.  They can also mail your prescriptions to you.  For more information please call 1-775-945-3045.
